LOMO | Square Front Anamorphic Rehoused (PL) (S35)

Capsule is proud to have some of the only few sets of Van Diemen rehoused LOMO Square Front Anamorphic lens sets in existence.

This set was originally owned by renowned DP, Khalid Mohtaseb, who meticulously sourced the donor glass from hundreds of Lomo Square Front options to have rehoused one of the optically best sets on the planet. Khalid accounts the vast majority of his reel to this specific set, and we have been fortunate enough to inherit them from him and bring this amazing glass to Japan.

LOMO Square Fronts have long been an incredible choice for a dramatic image but the poor mechanics of the original housings and the inability to use a clamp on mattebox rendered the lenses only being used in specialty scenarios.

Now rehoused, these legendary optics have a uniform diameter, internal wire focus, improved close focus and consistent focus and iris gears for quick lens changes.

LOMO Square Fronts when stopped down are sharp on center with fall-off in the corners. They have classic barrel distortion, perfectly oval bokeh, and some of the most beautiful lens flares of any anamorphic lens.
