STATERA, from the Latin word for "balance," is designed with balance in every aspect. The Statera primes are the result of a 3-year collaboration between Ancient Optics and Old Fast Glass, aiming to create a cohesive set of anamorphic FF+ lenses that blend vintage character with modern performance.

These lenses combine vintage spherical elements with new anamorphic optics and use a traditional variable front diopter focus system. A 1.5x anamorphic squeeze ratio was chosen to maximize resolution while maintaining a classic front-anamorphic look. The lenses achieve excellent close focus distances and maintain full frame coverage.

Inspired by legendary anamorphic lenses from the 1970s and 1980s-such as Todd AO, Cineovison, Technovision, and Nippon Scope-STATERA lenses are flattering for subjects, especially in close-ups. The focus system minimizes "mumps," keeping faces natural and proportionate. The lenses avoid extreme field curvature and soft corners, allowing multiple subjects to remain sharp across the frame and providing strong resolution to the edges with a pleasing fall-off. Bokeh is always organic in shape, swirling toward the edges with a balanced Petzval effect. When stopped down to T2.8, bokeh becomes perfectly oval. Classic single-layer coatings provide beautiful, organic flares without a modern or oversaturated look.

While also being Full Frame each lens in the set features incredible close focus capability beyond typical anamorphic lenses, largely removing the need for diopters with the 75mm focusing as close as top macro lenses and the 135mm T2.9 focusing closer than almost any lens in its range.
